Privacy Notice

Draft for legal review. Under-18 membership stays closed until this notice, and how TopEdu complies with student privacy laws, have been approved by a lawyer.

What we collect

• Account: your email and sign-in, held by our authentication provider. We never see your password.
• Age: you give your birth month and year. We keep only the date you become an adult. If you are under 13 we store nothing at all.
• Papers: the files, comments, datasets and PDFs you and the people you invite write in the workspace, kept until the project is deleted. Building a PDF sends the project's files to our build service for that build only.
• Application and profile: your name, the name you show to others, stage, school, interests and what you write.
• Mentors: credentials and a link we use to check them, and the date of a completed background check.
• Parent or guardian: a name and an email, and when consent was given or withdrawn.
• Activity: messages, research plans, simulations you run, reports, and a log of safety-relevant actions.

Who can see it

• Students under 18: not listed anywhere. A mentor sees only the name you chose, stage, graduation year, interests and headline, and only after you asked for them and a guardian agreed. Your full name, school and email are never shown to mentors.
• Guardians: the student's profile, requests and all their messages, until the student turns 18.
• Reviewers: applications, and conversations only when there is an open report. Each such read is logged.
• Adult members: the profile you write, and your connected Crafted Life Journey page, which you control there.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information or show ads, and TopEdu pages have no third-party trackers. Student information is not used to train AI models.

Service providers

Cloudflare (hosting and database), Supabase (sign-in), and an email provider for guardian messages. The simulation machine receives only numbers for a simulation, not who asked.

Your choices

You can download or delete your data from your profile. A guardian can delete a student's data from their link. If there is an open safety report, we clear personal details and keep the conversation evidence until the report is resolved.
