Code of Conduct
Everyone at TopEdu agrees to this when they apply. It is written to be read. Breaking it can end a membership and, where the law requires or safety calls for it, be reported to the authorities.
Everyone
- Be honest about who you are, your age and your credentials.
- Do the work you say you did. Credit everyone who helped, including mentors and software.
- Report anything that worries you. Use Report in any conversation, or a guardian can from their link.
Students
- Your project is your own: your question, your code or analysis, your conclusions and your writing. Using a mentor or AI tool to learn is fine, and you say so when you do. Handing in their work as yours is not.
- If you are under 18, keep conversations on TopEdu. If an adult asks you to move to another app, keep a secret, send photos, or meet alone, stop and report it. You will not be in trouble.
Mentors
- Guide, do not ghost-write. Do not write code, analysis or text that a student will present as their own. Do not add your name to a student's work unless you earned authorship, and never trade it.
- Never promise an admission outcome, a recommendation, or a job in exchange for anything.
- With anyone under 18: stay on TopEdu. No private contact on any other channel, no personal gifts or money, no one-to-one meetings, no comments on appearance or personal relationships, and no questions about them. Any in-person or video session needs the guardian to agree and attend or be able to.
- Your conversations with students under 18 can be read by their guardian. Write every message as if they are in the room, because they may be.
- TopEdu is separate from any personal page. Do not direct students under 18 to your personal pages or social accounts.
What happens after a report
A person reviews every report, with reports involving a student under 18 first. We may close conversations and suspend an account while we look into it. Suspected abuse of a child is reported to the authorities.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 in the United States. To report suspected online exploitation, use the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.
